Toyota has prepped a series of upgrades for their compact hybrid MPV, the Prius+, for 2017MY.

The brand’s engineers have reduced the engine revs by approximately 1,000 rpm, while maintaining acceleration, by using more electric power to support the 1.8-liter VVT-I Atkinson cycle petrol burner, while the CVT (continuously variable transmission) has underwent some revisions that secure a quieter and more linear acceleration, resulting in a smoother ride.

A series of additional sound insulation, introduced in the platform, dashboard, lower section of the side and rear doors and in the door frames, along with a tunnel silencer, has improved quietness inside. The list of upgrades also checks the Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system, which has been tweaked to the latest version and uses the same centrally mounted touchscreen to offer simpler and more intuitive menu designs.

Toyota’s Touch 2 with Go Package now includes three years of map and connectivity updates, along with the customer option of two extra years of extension, ensuring accurate route planning and support from a wide range of apps that provide traffic info, parking availability, fuel prices and weather. The system also allows users to link to Google Search, Google Streetview, Twitter, Aupeo! and Aha. The range of upgrades is completed by a new shade, called Phantom Blue.
