We’ve seen it in S8 and RS8 guise, as well as rendered as an Avant model. As a Coupe however, Audi’s all-new A8 could finally give the Mercedes S-Class a proper run for its money.

If it wasn’t for all those different Prologue concepts, we would just dismiss the thought of an A8 Coupe, let alone a family-oriented Avant model. But since the German automaker actually built these concepts, we might as well entertain these ideas.

The A8 Coupe was rendered by X-Tomi Design, and even though it’s less elegant than the actual Prologue Coupe concept, it still looks realistic enough.

Unlike the Prologue, what we’re seeing here is just the regular 2018 Audi A8 with elongated front doors and no rear ones, plus a redesigned C-pillar and glasshouse. That’s a different approach to the one used by Mercedes, where the S-Class Coupe differentiates itself from the saloon much more.

At the same time, an A8 Coupe would give Audi a boost in their fight against Mercedes’ widespread S-Class range, which is currently a lot bigger in terms of numbers than anything Audi, or BMW for that matter, have to offer in the executive segment.
