Shortly after the introduction of the Model 3, Tesla has lowered the prices of the Model S and Model X.

Our colleagues at Electrek spotted the change that makes the entry-level zero-emission SUV $3,000 cheaper than the Model S 75D, as it now starts at $79,500.

The price update has been explained by the automaker in a few words: “When we launched Model X 75D, it had a low gross margin. As we’ve achieved efficiencies, we are able to lower the price and pass along more value to our customers.”

Besides making the basic Model X more affordable, Tesla has also lowered the prices of all dual Model S cars by $1,500, while also making the $5,000 Premium Package standard on all range-topping vehicles. The bundle includes the HEPA air filtration system, Bioweapon Defense Mode, custom audio system, SM satellite radio on models equipped with sunroof, heated seats for the first two rows, heated steering wheel, wiper blade defrosters, and washer nozzle heaters.

This means that the Model S P100D can be had from $140,000, compared to the previous $141,500, while the Model X P100D starts from $145,000.
