Toyota invited a select group of classic Supra owners from the UK to have a closer look at the prototype of the all-new A90 generation in a special, behind-closed-doors event in Sussex.

The company says that this is the first time all five generations of Toyota Supra came together. During the event, the new Supra’s chief engineer Tetsuya Tada gave owners of the previous four generations an exclusive introduction to the camouflaged prototype.

The Toyota A90 Supra prototype had just made its world dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed before heading to the “top-secret” location of the event.

The invite-only event gathered 84 owners and 50 Supras from all four generations. The majority belonged unsurprisingly to the MK4 Supra, from rare UK-spec models with manual transmissions to tuned imported examples. Eight third-gen Supras made it to the event in both original and facelifted guise, along with four second-gen models and a single first-gen Celica Supra – one of the only two known to exist in the UK.

The new A90 Supra has been in development for six years now. Tada-san was eager to mingle with the Supra owners and talk about his baby as well as hear what existing owners have to say.

“I’m just so happy that we’ve made it to this point,” said Tetsuya Tada. “I’ve finally been able to reveal the car to the UK; it’s the happiest day of my life. And to drive it up the hill at Goodwood was a really exciting experience.”

Toyota says that the new Supra will go on sale in the UK during the first half of 2019. Hopefully this means that the official and complete reveal of the new Japanese sports car will take place in the next few months.
