The sixth generation BMW M5 recently took to the Nurburgring for some tire shredding fun.

Filmed from inside the cockpit and shared online by L’Argus, the video may not be presenting a record-breaking run, but it will still make you cringe from time to time.

So, what should you expect from it? Well, that would be short acceleration bursts, fast cornering and overtaking, sprinkled with the occasional power slide.

The twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 powering the all-new BMW M5 helps it reach 100km/h (62mph) in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 305km/h (189mph). The 600PS (592hp / 441kW) and 750Nm (553lb-ft) of torque produced are being pushed to the M-tuned xDrive all-wheel drive system through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Despite the switch to AWD, the new M5 is still extremely fun to drive and it’s faster than its predecessor, the M5 F10, both in a straight line and on the track.

All of this power comes at a price that’s to be expected for an executive sports sedan: €117,900 ($134,472) in its homeland, and $102,700 (€90,000) on this side of the Atlantic.

As for its main challenger, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S, it starts from €122,724 ($139,974) and $104,400 (€91,490), respectively. The range-topping saloon from Affalterbach is just as quick to 100km/h (62mph), and its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine packs 612PS (603hp / 450kW) and works in conjunction with a nine-speed auto.

But there’s no Merc in the following clip; just the new M5 attacking the Nordschleife, so sit back and enjoy!
