Canadian Driver Continues To Drink Beer Even After Rear Ending Another Car

Getting rear-ended is a traumatic experience even in the fortunate event that the accident is without injuries.

Imagine the surprise a man had when he realized that the driver of the Volvo XC60 that had just hit his Ford Fusion was allegedly drunk. As if that wasn’t distressing enough, the reckless driver was casually sipping a beer in the middle of the Yellowhead Highway in Alberta, Canada.

To the Fusion driver’s credit, he held his nerve and didn’t fall prey to rage. Instead, he started filming the intoxicated driver, probably to have some sort of proof to show to the police. Unsurprisingly, the other guy put on quite a show.

When he realized he was being filmed, the Volvo driver accused the other guy of punching him, implying that it was only after the assault that he started drinking. The thing is the video reveals the XC60 contained several opened beer bottles, so his theory would have been hard to believe.

That “minor” detail likely prevented him from lying his way out of the incident. We don’t know how the story ended as the video stops before the police arrive at the scene. However, we hope justice was served; alcohol and driving do not match – period.

Sorry, Canada. You’re going to have to do better than that if you want to compete with Florida.

    • ksegg

      Agreed.

      Florida and Texas.

      • Mr. EP9

Speaking of which, I heard some drunk guy in Florida was running around kicking in people’s doors looking for someone to fight. Long story short, he ended up chasing some guy outside, tripped over a law chair and passed out on a fence. I’d link the story but your comments get moderated if you do that.

    It’s Canada. Nothing to worry.

I’m no lawyer, but I’ve heard of people doing this to avoid getting convicted of drunk driving. If he blows over the legal limit, his lawyer will probably use this video to prove that he drank AFTER the accident. Better to be convicted for an open container than DUI.
