Not everyone is enamored by the BMW X6‘s looks, but we’re gathering no one is losing their sleep over this in Munich as long as it continues to be a money-making machine for the company.

In fact, it’s the vehicle that launched a whole new niche, that of the coupe SUVs, forcing Mercedes-Benz to follow suit with the GLE Coupe and Audi with the Q8 – not to mention the lesser, premium or mainstream coupe SUVs that have made traditional saloons a minority.

In addition to the regular petrol and diesel engines, the X6 is being offered with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 as well. Reserved for the M derivative, it serves as the range-topping model of the series and pushes out 575 PS (567 hp / 423 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque in the second-generation X6 M.

The massive output and all-wheel drive allows it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds, which is pretty much sports car territory or, if you will, previous-gen supercar realm. Top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph), which is more than enough for a vehicle that weighs in excess of 2 tons (4,400+ lbs).

Now, while most would be satisfied with those numbers, the owner of this particular X6 M wanted more – and it shows. Starting with the multi-color paint (or is it a wrap?), which combines the BMW M colors into a specific pattern, to the yellow headlights, Akrapovic exhaust system and Manhart wheels, this is one X6 that’s designed to draw attention.

While we’re not sure about the paint job, we’re glad it’s not all show and no go. Quite the opposite, as the V8 has been tuned by Belgian company Power Plus Engineering to churn out some 700+ PS (690 hp / 515 kW). And, thanks to that loud exhaust, it ensures that everyone takes note.
