Can The Tesla Model X Keep Up With A Lamborghini Aventador?

The Tesla Model X may not be the most attractive SUV in the world, but in P100D guise, it is one of the quickest. Is it quicker than a Lamborghini Aventador, however?

To find out, Car Wow pitted a Model X P100D against an especially eye-catching Lamborghini Aventador for a series of drag races from both standing and rolling starts.

When it comes to launch from a standing start, it is the Aventador that has the upper hand. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who knows about the Italian marque’s flagship supercar.

Thanks to its naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, seven-speed ISR transmission and all-wheel drive, the Aventador can easily and consistently reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds.

By comparison, the Model X P100D is also exceptionally rapid off the line, but not quite quick enough to beat the Lambo. Swap out the Model X for a Model S and the story would probably be very different.

From a rolling start, the two are quite evenly matched, despite hugely different powertrains. So, did the Tesla manage to beat the Lamborghini this time? The answer lies in the video that follows right after the break.

how did that dude acquire all his millions? and you know who I am asking about

  • Mr. EP9

    In a quarter mile? Yes.

But anything longer than that and the Lamborghini will beat it.

    • Anything longer than that is hardly relevant in real life, and the Tesla is a 7-seater family SUV. Lambo needs to switch to electric.

      • Mr. EP9

My point still stands and 0-60 times are no more relevant than anything else. Not everyone is going to care for how fast their vehicle can get to 60mph. And bear in mind, this thing has AWD, instant torque and 762hp. Any high horsepower SUV can accomplish similar feats as the Tesla. It’s not special.

        • The instant torque and rapid acceleration comes handy in many driving situations, especially that you don’t have to count with gear changes that would impact it. Any high horsepower SUV can do the same? Like? Tesla is the quickest SUV, and it has nothing to do with it being sporty (it’s not!), and everything to do with the most advanced battery technology Tesla has.

      • Belthronding

no it does not need to switch to electric, lambo is what it is thanks to it’s heritage & style and electricty has never been part of it.

        • Yeah, they already decided to build hybrids, that is electricity. The thing is, hybrids make no sense – See NIO EP9, Rimac etc.

  • if wrapping cars is illegal…

  • Bash

Cool. I love it, only that wrap tho. Blue variant would look better imo.

  • Blade t

Love lambos ,but that wrap makes it look cheap..

    Does it NEED to ?

  • Carol D. Marshall

I generally generate about $12500-$13500 a month through online. I lost my job after working for the same company for many years, I needed trusted source of income. I was not thinking about the “get rich overnight” packages you can see all over the internet. Those are all mlm schemes or stuff where you need to sell to your friends and family. The best benefit of working on the net is that I am always home with the kids and also I easily go on trip for long period. Honestly,it is actually simpler than you would believe. I got the instructions kit and within 4 weeks I was earning over $4,000 per month. You don’t have to be technical, but you should be aware how to use the internet. If you can fill forms and surf web sites, you can do it easily, You don’t even have to sell anything at all. It’s as simple as being on any social media site.
