Nico Rosberg has been keeping busy with his YouTube channel ever since retiring from Formula One as World Champion in 2016, and recently sampled one of the hottest hypercars of the moment: the McLaren Senna.

The track monster is the second model in McLaren’s Ultimate Series and follows in the footsteps of the hybrid P1. However, unlike the P1 which was a technical showcase and previewed the company’s electrified future, the Senna is all about track performance. As a result, it makes do without any hybridization and is focused on weight saving and aerodynamics instead.

Under the radical bodywork of the Senna is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 similar to what’s found in the 720S. This powertrain delivers 789 hp and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) of torque and can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 6.8 seconds, and go all the way to a 211 mph (339 km/h) top speed.

However, the Senna isn’t about straight line performance but blistering performance on a race circuit.

To put the hypercar to the test, Rosberg drove from Monaco to the Paul Ricard Formula 1 circuit where he had a go at the facility’s dedicated driving school track. Watching the F1 champ muscle the Senna around a technical racetrack makes for a very interesting viewing.
