Honda HR-V Sport Launched In The UK, Costs CR-V Money

The new Honda HR-V Sport will arrive in UK showrooms this April with a rather hefty price tag. The base model, which has a six-speed manual gearbox, costs at least £27,595 ($36,013/€31,770), whereas the CVT-equipped version can be had from £28,845 ($37,644/€33,209).

The price tag is comparable to the larger CR-V, which starts from £25,995 ($33,925/€29,928) locally in the base S grade, and £27,865 ($36,365/€32,081) in the SE model. This, though, can be explained by the more comprehensive equipment list of the HR-V Sport, which also has a slightly more powerful engine.

The HR-V Sport uses a 182 PS (179 hp / 134 kW) 1.5-liter turbocharged four, whereas the entry level CR-V is powered by a 173PS (170hp / 127kW) version of the same unit. The subcompact SUV goes from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.8 seconds and maxes out at 216 km/h (134 mph), while its average fuel consumption is rated at 47.9 mpg UK (5.9 l/100 km / 39.9 mpg US) in the WLTP standard.

Distinctive exterior elements such as blacked-out accents, aslim front splitter, wheel arch moldings, special rear bumper design and smoked taillights help differentiate the Sport from the rest of the HR-V models. The cabin features new front seats, black and dark red part-leather upholstery and black roof lining.

Also, the exterior LED lighting and infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen and Garmin navigation are standard. Just like the rest of the HR-V range, the Sport gets the Honda Sensing suite of active driving features that includes Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Collision Mitigation Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition.

For what it is, I agree; however, GM had done the same with it then all-new 2015 SUVs, it was about $10k too much on Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade.

Is the CRV Hybrid available in the UK? I wonder how that compares cost wise.

The design is too bland, the car looks entry-level mini suv even in sport guise, there’s hardly anything to differentiate from a regular hrv apart from color.

I’ll take the bland design of the HR-V over the ugly design of the last few CR-V’s.

The Honda HR—V Sport ( sounds like Cadillac’s ballpark— Vsport), but the HR—V Sport model looks surprisingly decent with the fluent lines with the side profile, Light-Emitting Diode headlamps, and dual exhaust tips; stylistically, I see a bit of Nissan and somewhat KIA influences within the crossover how the headlamps sculpted as a boomerang/jewel-styled shapes, and the red interior penetrates into KIA territory, among others. Looks good, in my opinion. Honda is trying, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Nice. It’ll probably replace current HR-V 1.8L. I’d be happy to buy it if it’s available in Indonesia. Btw, Honda should really consider implanting this 1.5L Turbo into Honda Jazz RS.

It will sell well in many Asian markets. Less in many EU markets except the UK where these things tend to sell pretty ok. The engine and power are right. The design much less.
