Mercedes-AMG has dropped a pair of teasers of its latest model, the CLA 35, set to premiere at next week’s New York Auto Show.

The German car manufacturer only recently unveiled the new A 35 Sedan online and now, it will be joined by a slightly sleeker counterpart with an identical powertrain.

What this means is that the CLA 35 will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 302 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. This engine first premiered in the A 35 Hatchback and sends its power to the tarmac via an AMG Speedshift 7G dual-clutch transmission and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. The A 35 Sedan hits 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 155 mph (250 km/h), and we expect the same numbers for the CLA 35.

Much like the A 35 Sedan, only sportier

Images of the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 reveal that the initial show car will be painted in a bright shade of yellow and come fitted with a small carbon fiber lip spoiler at the rear. In addition, there will be a little front splitter, enlarged front air intakes, a set of sporty wheels, a pair of circular tailpipes and a new rear diffuser.

The Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 will be a taster of what Mercedes-AMG has in store for the CLA family. As you probably already guessed, an even more potent CLA 45 variant will be launched in the not too distant future sporting the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder as the new A 45. Power should sit at 416 hp in range-topping CLA 45 S guise.
