“Sh!t Sh!t Sh!t..God Dam It!”: Watch Driver Aquaplane After Hitting Puddle

After watching the video below, you may think about driving a little slower the next time you see roads drenched in water.

While it’s difficult to ascertain what vehicle the cammer is driving, he was definitely lucky to escape what could have quickly turned into a very violent crash.

As the driver cruises along the motorway, he hits a puddle on the left side of the lane and instantly losses control of the car as it starts aquaplaning. First, he momentarily slides to the left before the car aggressively swerves to the right, slamming into the side of a minivan traveling in the right lane. This impact pushes the car to the left and, for a brief moment, it appeared to be careening straight into the steel crash barriers on the side of the road.

Fortunately, the car again flicks back to the right and only its tail end hits the barrier. By this time, the car is traveling quite slowly and the driver is able to bring it back under control and pull over to the side of the road.

While his car has certainly suffered some considerable damage, the driver should be thankful things weren’t any worse. If, for example, the car slid directly into the barriers after initially hitting the puddle, the crash would have been much worse – and that would also be the case if he was driving any faster.

I still remember in high school (decades ago) when a classmate came to class late and was talking about how they got into an accident because the car hydroplaned and there was “nothing” they could do about it. The teacher overheard the conversation and jumped in to say “Driving too fast for the road conditions is easily avoided”.

    • Bash

True, no need to say more.

    • HaltestelleLuitpolthafen

      You can hydroplane going 35mph.

You expect people to go 35 on the highway?

      • scjeff

I would like people to factor in the road conditions, conditions of their tires, and type of vehicle they are driving (4WD, AWD, etc.) and then drive at a speed that would prevent them from losing control. I expect most of them to blithely drive along in ignorance and then be shocked when they lose traction.

        • Jay

True but no one expects to be able to hydroplane at 35mph but it can happen.

  • kachuks

Could have been much, much worse for both vehicles, under those conditions.

  • iion

A crappy car or a driver.

    • Nick

Are you really trying to imply it was the vehicle when the dude was speeding in terrible conditions?

  • Dennis James

He was going way too fast for that weather.

  • Ishliss

Poor GT350. Mustang owners aren’t always the brightest it seems.

  • Paul

I clicked on this story with the expectation of seeing much worse, with no more than they show in the teaser. Lesson learned for this driver in the video maybe. It doesn’t take much sometimes and it all goes astray.

  • helloWorld

the mustang will always feed humans one way or another. Can’t let mustangs starve or they will cannibalize it’s owner

  • pcurve

maybe they’ll make 4wd mustang lol

  • SteersUright

Its so easy to hydroplane with wide tires in a sports car. Happened to me plenty of times. Thankfully never too bad or hit anything.
