Police in Bedford, Virginia arrested a man in late April after he shot three people during an argument about whether Chevrolet or Ford is better. No, this is not a joke.

Fox 13 reports that 56-year-old Mark Edwin Turner was arrested on 2 a.m. April 23 after a standoff which lasted more than two hours. Authorities responded to a report of a shooting at a local home and found three people outside with gunshot wounds.

Speaking with WSET-TV, Bedford County Commonwealth’s Attorney Wes Nance said that Turner, his girlfriend, her son, and her son’s girlfriend were all having dinner on the night of April 22. While in the front yard, Turner and his girlfriend’s son got into an argument about whether Chevrolet or Ford is the better auto manufacturer.

Things became so heated that Turner reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed his girlfriend in the lower back as she tried to get between him and her son. Turner proceeded to return into the home where he retrieved a gun and shot his girlfriend a total of five times in the legs as she again tried to protect her son. Authorities say that her son was hit in the arm and that her son’s girlfriend was hit by two bullets which ricocheted.

Turner refused to go down without a fight when authorities arrived on the scene and started yelling at officers. Police were able to shoot Turner with a bean bag and swiftly took him into custody.

Turner has been charged with felony malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
