Jaguar has released the onboard video of the XE SV Project 8’s new Nurburgring lap record of 7 minutes and 18.361 seconds.

This means that the XE SV Project 8 remains the world’s fastest four-door production car around the Naordschleife, improving its own time by 2.9 seconds and making it 7 seconds faster than the second-best rival.

Belgian racing driver Vincent Radermecker was once again behind the wheel of a production-spec Project 8, which was fitted with sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires and the Track Pack, which ditches the rear seats in favor of a roll cage.

The record car also had its adjustable suspension set to its ‘track’ ride height and the front splitter and rear wing to their maximum downforce position for the lap record attempt.

“The original Nürburgring time set by Jaguar XE SV Project 8 demonstrated the extreme performance envelope of the world’s fastest production sedan, but the SV team is driven by a motorsport mentality and we knew Project 8 could go even faster,” said Jamal Hameedi, SVO’s engineering director. “This new official record time is a fitting reward for everyone who has played a part in pushing the boundaries for our customers with Project 8.”

Power comes from Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8 which produces 592 HP (600 PS) and drives all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Jaguar claims that 0-60 mph comes in just 3.3 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.7) and top speed sits at a nice, round 200 mph (320 km/h).
