The Audi A6 has always been a smart choice, offering a good balance between comfort and sportiness, as well as plenty of space for occupants. Its fifth generation has already made a name for itself for being pretty darn good – and we can’t say we’re surprised.

Presented a year and a half ago, with some of the sportier styling of the A7 and tech borrowed from the A8 flagship, the C8 A6 starts at $54,100 in 45 TFSI guise.

Despite the naming scheme, it’s actually powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four making 248 HP and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. For the 55 TFSI variant, which packs a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, with 335 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, you’ll have to fork out at least $58,900 and for the Prestige model tested out by CNET’s Roadshow, about $74,000. The Quattro all-wheel drive system is standard across the range.

The poshest version of the new Audi A6 sports LED headlights with dynamic DRLs and animation, ambient lighting package plus, 12-way front ventilated seats, a head-up display and four-zone climate control. The lesser Premium Plus comes with the Audi Virtual Cockpit, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, 360-degree camera and Bang & Olufsen audio, whereas the base Premium gets the 8.8-inch infotainment, front and rear parking sensors and LED lights all around.

Thanks to the dual-screen layout, with two separate displays for the infotainment and HVAC controls, which are very easy to operate, along with the digital instrument cluster, the cabin looks very well laid out. The same can be said about the ergonomics, as everything is within reach for the driver.

Now, there isn’t anything major to complain about when it comes to the 2019 A6, but then again, its rivals are all pretty good too. So, between Inglostadt’s executive sedan, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Volvo S90 and Lexus ES, which one would you choose and why?
