The Soul is back on Kia’s menu, albeit with new everything, including a zero-emission version for which you will have to pay a minimum of €36,000 ($39,769) in Ireland, or almost as much as a new BMW X1.
So, what do you get in return? That would be the 17-inch alloy wheels, 10.25-inch infotainment system with navigation, cloth and leather upholstery, heated front seats, Harman Kardon sound system, smart cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and lane follow assist.

If money is no concern, then you could upgrade to the €37,495 ($41,421) K3, which adds leather upholstery, red interior trim, head-up display, blind spot collision avoidance and a few other features.
This is an electric car that packs a 204 PS (201 HP / 150 kW) motor and a 64 kWh battery that provides a 452-km (281-mile) range, according to Kia – which should be more than enough to cure some of that range anxiety.
On the go, the e-Soul offers the typical electric car experience, with the instant torque provided by the zero-emission powertrain. From behind the wheel, it feels very quiet and relaxed. All the controls are where you’d expect them to be, so getting familiar with it won’t take long. The back seat can sit three adults in relative comfort and the cargo area is very practical.
If you can get past the quirky looks, then you will find a very good daily driver with no carbon fiber footprint.
