2020 Audi R8 LMS GT4 Is Ready To Roll Its Wheels In Anger

Coinciding with the launch of the R8 RWD, Audi Sport has also unveiled the revised R8 LMS GT4.

The racer borrows about 60 percent of its components from the production version of the supercar, which a href=”https://www.carscoops.com/2018/10/2019-audi-r8-debuts-sportier-styling-familiar-v10-engine/”>received a facelift one year ago, and wants to build on the success of its predecessor that has claimed 17 titles worldwide.

It also comes at the right time, as private buyers can participate in a number of different events hosted worldwide. From the standalone 24-hour races at the Nurburgring and Dubai, to the company’s LMS Cups in Asia and Australia, there are currently 27 fielding opportunities on five continents, including America, Australia and Africa.

Review: Updated Audi R8 May Look Busier But Still Has That Wonderful V10

The 2020 R8 LMS GT4 sports a few visual updates inspired by the production model. The 5.2-liter, naturally aspirated V10 engine carries over with 495 PS (488 HP / 364 kW) and over 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, as specified by regulations. The output is directed to the rear wheels through a 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters, and total weight stands at 1,460 kg (3,219 lbs).

One major novelty of the race car is that it allows drivers to adjust the ABS braking and traction control systems. The setup includes eight different settings, which depend on the weather, track conditions, tire grip and other factors. For this, they will have to use the two rotary switches that are mounted in the center of the steering wheel, which comes from the GT2 variant.

The revised R8 LMS GT4 is assembled at the same line as the street-legal variant, at Neckarsulm.
