California-based and Chinese-backed Neuron EV has released more photos of its T-One modular electric utility vehicle (EUV), proving that there’s more to it than CGIs.

The company first showed the T-One in early November at the 2019 China International Import Expo in Shanghai and is now offering more details about the electric pickup/van. Starting with the model’s name, Neuron EV says the letter T signifies that it’s built on a truck platform, while ‘One’ is a reference to it being an all-in-one multipurpose vehicle.

As the images suggest, the platform can take on various truck bodies (pickup, chassis cab, panel van) as well a premium passenger van, and is why Neuron EV refers to it as a modular Electric Utility Vehicle.

Now, everyone is curious about the performance and other specs of the T-One EUV. The company remains quiet about numbers, however, and says that vehicle performance is determined by usability.

Neuron EV questions the industry norm of engineering vehicles to go faster than the speed limit. This suggests the T-One won’t deliver breathtaking acceleration like the Tesla Cybertruck, for example. The scalable chassis is said to accommodate a multi-source propulsion system (possibly including fuel cells) drawing power from an all-electric traction battery pack, replaceable reserve power, and a removable solar panel truck bed cover.

“Neuron’s product quality is measured by ease of use, comfort, reliability, safety, and sustainability,” the company says in the press release. The startup adds that it is “focused on smart production and not mass production” and is confident there is plenty of room for improvement in renewable energy vehicles.

The T-One will target young professionals between the ages of 30 and 50, “people who use technology to lead dynamic yet balanced lifestyles.” For now, there’s no time frame regarding the start of production for the T-One, as Neuron EV says it requires more major investments to bring the EUV to market and is working towards that goal.

The T-One undoubtedly looks good in these photos. The cabin is especially interesting, though not that space-effective in combination with the central driving position. Mind you, the renderings below suggest conventional versions will also be available.

The reclining rear seats are not what you’d expect of a commercial vehicle, but the T-One does not seem to be your regular electric truck. Will it ever go beyond the prototype stage? We’ll just have to wait and see.
