There’s an old saying that “slow and steady wins the race,” but this driver never got the memo.

Reportedly filmed in Canada, the clip appears to show a Mercedes SLC or SLK owner in a bit of a rush. This normally wouldn’t be too much of an issue, but the roads are slick and snow is still falling.

Considering the SLC and SLK are both rear-wheel drive roadsters, these conditions should probably warrant extra vigilance. However, the driver appears to dismiss the weather as the clip begins with them tailgating the car ahead.

Their impatience is about to get the best of them as they attempt to pass the slower moving vehicle. As they begin to change lanes, the car hits a pile of snow which has built up between the lanes.

This causes the driver to temporarily lose control, but they manage to straighten out the car. Unfortunately, this was only a brief reprieve as they appear to have overcorrected.

This sends the car into a spin and the roadster rotates 90 degrees before exiting the roadway. As the vehicle goes out of frame, we can see it narrowly miss a road marker and head into a ditch.

We don’t get to see the aftermath, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the vehicle suffered some front end damage. Thankfully for them, it appears the dashcammer pulled over to make sure they were okay.

The moral of the story? Drive according to conditions and pack some patience. As the Anchorage Police Department noted following a near miss, “It’s winter. Please slow down.”
