A silver Chevrolet C6 Corvette was pulled over by the police in South Dakota after being clocked at 131 mph (210 km/h) in an 80 mph (128 km/h) zone.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol notes that the driver of the Corvette was traveling near Watertown along I-29 when a patrol car noted the sports car driving at a high rate of speed. After being clocked at 131 mph, the driver was pulled over.
Interestingly, the police state the Corvette was racing another vehicle on I-29 and says that both cars were stopped. It remains to be seen what the second car was, but if it was racing a Corvette, it must have been something with similar performance credentials.

While we don’t know exactly what happened to the driver of the Corvette, or the other car for that matter, we presume that at the very least that they were fined for speeding as well as street racing.
The Corvette pulled over looks to be a standard C6 model. Consequently, it would be powered by a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter LS2 V8 rated at 400 hp at 6,000 rpm and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque at 4,400 rpm from the factory. In the event of this being a post-2007 model, it could sport the upgraded 6.2-liter LS3 V8 with 430 hp and 424 lb-ft (575 Nm) of torque. Given enough room, the C6 Corvette is said to be good for 186 mph (300 km/h) – but, thankfully, the driver of this particular example didn’t get anywhere near that speed.
