When Ram introduced the 1500 TRX Launch Edition, many people were shocked by its starting price of $92,010.

However, customers didn’t seem to mind as Ram has announced all 702 units were sold in “approximately three hours.”

While it probably shouldn’t be surprising that fans want to get behind the wheel of the fastest and most powerful mass production pickup, the Launch Edition wasn’t terribly special despite costing $20,320 more than the base TRX.

Changes were largely limited to a unique Anvil Gray exterior with bodyside graphics and 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear tires. The special edition also featured a unique center console badge, carbon fiber trim, a panoramic sunroof and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. On top of the extras, the special edition came standard with the $7,920 Level 2 Equipment Group which adds a host of amenities including heated and ventilated leather seats as well as a wireless smartphone charger.

Needless to say, the company is pretty happy about the sellout status as Ram boss Mike Koval Jr. said “The groundswell of demand for our all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition validates our efforts to bring the fastest, quickest, most powerful pickup truck to market.” He added, “We said the Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition would go fast. And we meant that in more ways than one.”

While the Launch Edition isn’t very special, the same can’t be said about the TRX as it features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. It’s backed up by an upgraded eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard four-wheel drive system. This enables the pickup to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph (174 km/h).
