Australians absolutely love their utes, and these renderings of one based on the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 showcase what would inevitably be the most remarkable of its kind ever launched.

Ever since Ford took the covers off the current Mustang Shelby GT500, enthusiasts have been going crazy over it – and for good reason. Powering the muscle car is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that puts out an impressive 760 hp and 625 lb-ft (847 Nm) of torque and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the rear wheels.

Arguably the most extreme production ute manufactured in Australia was the HSV GTSR Maloo. Powering this beast of a thing was a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 producing 583 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque, or 435 kW and 740 Nm in local figures. Those are truly remarkable numbers, especially for a vehicle that has so little weight over its rear wheels.

This render comes from designer Rostislav Prokop and grafts the front and rear fascias of the Mustang onto a Ford Falcon ute body. With this in mind, the front end features a gaping wide grille and a large power dome hood housing that powerful 5.2-liter supercharged V8. At the rear there are normal Mustang taillights as well as dual tailpipes, and while the idea of a ute with Mustang design features may sound strange, we think it works quite well.
