While Toyota has yet to confirm that it is developing a GR Corolla hot hatch, all signs point towards it being just around the corner.

The new version will be launched in North America as a way to appease enthusiasts disappointed by Toyota’s decision not to sell the much-hyped GR Yaris in this side of the pond. While the GR Corolla has yet to be launched, designer Khyzyl Saleem has created some renderings of what it could look like if transformed into a wild rally car.

Toyota is currently competing in the World Rally Championship with the Yaris, but rather than rendering a racing version of the GR Corolla with cues from the Yaris WRC, Saleem’s creation was influenced by the legendary Group B rally cars from the early 1980s.

At the rear, the GR Corolla rally car has a towering rear wing that would create heaps of downforce and help stick the hatchback to the tarmac. A set of extended wheel arches are featured at the rear, as is an exposed exhaust system.

Up front, Saleem’s creation includes a pair of large driving lights and the type of front splitter and nose section we’d expect to see of a Time Attack car. Other modifications include bespoke front wheel arches, aftermarket wheel, and a stripped-out interior with a roll cage.

While there’s no chance we will see a legitimate GR Corolla rally car like this, it’s entirely possible a tuner will release a bodykit for the hot hatch that might, in some ways, resemble this one. After all, Rocket Bunny has already released a rally-inspired bodykit for the GR Yaris.
