As if the delays caused by, among other things, the COVID-19 pandemic last year weren’t enough, the C8 Corvette has suffered yet another set back as supply-chain issues have forced the company to stop production.

The report emerged on corvetteforum, where one customer posted an email notifying them that the vehicle they ordered through the National Corvette Museum Delivery Program would be delayed.

Per the post:

BGAP (Bowling Green Assembly Plant) has just announced a suspension of production for the week of 2/1 due to supply chain issues. Due to recent delays and this shutdown, the new anticipated completion date of your car is 2/12. If your previously scheduled tentative appointment does not fall at least 2 weeks beyond this date, we will need to reschedule.

The R8C Museum Delivery program is a $1,000 option that allows customers to pick up their vehicle at the National Corvette Museum, which happens to be next to the Bowling Green Corvette assembly plant. There they are given a guided tour of the museum, a presentation about their vehicle, a personalized interior dash plaque, and more.

Chevrolet, meanwhile, confirmed to Corvette Blogger that the delay was affecting all production at Bowling Green and that the delay would last a week.

“Bowling Green Assembly will not run production the week of February 1,” wrote Chevrolet. “Our supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production, and we expect the plant to resume normal operations on Monday, February 8.”

This is the third shut down due to supply issues since the plant reopened in May 2020 after a two-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the latest being in October.
