The BMW Isetta is one of the most intriguing cars ever manufactured and there’s a well-loved example currently up for auction through Bring A Trailer.

This particular Isetta 300 is a 1956 model and was acquired by the seller in 2005. It is being offered at no reserve with a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name and is finished in a shade of red, although it is in desperate need of a polish. The tiny BMW also sits on a set of 10-inch cream-colored wheels mounted with Michelin tires.

The cabin of the Isetta is famously accessed through the single front door. Adorning the single bench seat is simple upholstery that has been torn and is in desperate need of replacing. Also found within the cabin of the Isetta is a parcel rack in the rear compartment and a number of red accents.

Powering the microcar is an air-cooled 298 cc single-cylinder engine rated at 13 hp and 13.6 lb-ft (18 Nm) of torque when it was new, although we’re sure it has lost some ponies throughout the decades. Any of the power that remains is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission linked to a solid rear axle. Images of the car’s underside show large areas of corrosion.

Evidently, this Isetta could benefit greatly from a comprehensive restoration that could return it to its former glory. Bidding on the listing had reached $3,333 at the time of writing.
