Elon Musk has revealed that Tesla is going to release an “update” on the Cybertruck sometime in the second quarter of the year.

Answering a question on Twitter, the carmaker’s CEO said that we should expect an update on the Cybertruck as soon as this April, adding that production of Tesla’s first pickup truck will take place at their Gigafactory in Texas.

Musk added that their focus now is to get the Cybertruck into series production. Tesla’s factory near Austin, Texas is also currently under construction, with the company saying that it will be completed later in the year.

Musk previously said that Tesla is making “small improvements” to Cybertruck’s design, promising that it will be better than the first prototype that was revealed back in November 2019. “I think it’s going to be better than what we showed,” he said during the Q3 2020 earnings call.

Tesla’s pickup truck will also ride on an adaptive air suspension and feature three electric motors at its top spec, for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than 2.9 seconds. Single- and dual-motor setups will complete the range.

So far we don’t know much about the production version of the Cybertruck apart from Tesla’s promise that it will retain the stainless steel body and the bulletproof glass. Musk admitted the challenges Tesla is facing with bringing it to production, saying that it requires new manufacturing methods and that they will be “lucky” if they manage to deliver the first examples of the Cybertruck at the end of this year.
