The El Camino stands out in the U.S. automotive scene thanks to its ute-style shape and eye-catching design. Many people would love for Chevrolet to launch a modern-day El Camino and while that seems unlikely, there is a particularly clean 1960 example we’ve stumbled across for sale in Kentucky.

This El Camino has undergone more than 1,500 hours of restoration and upgrades to make it even more desirable. Found under the hood is a 350 cubic-inch V8 from GM Performance Parts that offers up much more grunt that the standard six-cylinder or the 283 cubic-inch V8 that the El Camino could be equipped with from the factory. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission.

The listing adds that the car features ceramic coated headers with a flowmaster exhaust. It has also been equipped with power front disc brakes, an electric fuel pump, Hotchkiss front and rear sway bars, and 15-inch American Racing wheels with BF Goodrich tires. Various other changes have been made, including the fitment of a new stereo system, sprayed-in bed liner, tinted glass, electric wipers, and seat belts.

The light shade of yellow adorning the exterior of the car is dubbed Sunfire Yellow and really brings out some of the car’s key design details. Contrasting the yellow paint are a host of chrome accents, in particular across the front and rear fascias.

Since its restoration, the car has apparently traveled a touch under 4,000 miles. It’s currently listed for sale by S&S Classic Cars for $79,000 or best offer.
