A Ferrari 458 Italia has been destroyed after being crashed at the Circuito de Jarama near Madrid, Spain.
The 458 Italia is one of the finest mid-engined V8 sports cars ever built by the Italian car manufacturer and thanks to its 4.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8, is more desirable to some enthusiasts than the more recent 488 GTB and F8 Tributo with their twin-turbo V8s. Sadly, this example probably won’t return to the roads.
Onboard video of the car shows its driver pushing the supercar to its limits on the Spanish circuit. Everything appeared to be going well until they approached the first corner.

As the driver swerves to the right to overtake a slower car, they hit the dirt on the right side of the track. This causes the Ferrari to understeer to the opposite side of the track, hit the gravel trap at high speed, slam into the tire wall and flip.
Both the passenger and driver can be heard talking immediately after the crash, indicating that they didn’t suffer any major injuries.
As bad as that accident was, it could have been much worse. As the Ferrari slid through the gravel trap, it could have very easily tipped onto two wheels and started to barrel roll towards the tire wall, just like what recently happened with a Toyota GR Yaris on another circuit during a track day.
