The new, European-specific short wheelbase Kia Sportage has made its auto show debut at IAA Munich.

First revealed last week ahead of the show, the new crossover is designed specifically for the European market and is 5.2-inches (133 mm) shorter than the global market version. Despite that, it features many of the same design cues and flourishes as the longer wheelbase version.

The GT-Line model, specifically, features standout body colors and an interior that utilizes a black and white interior to generate contrast and create a lively environment, says Kia. It also features special badging, dark contrasting wheel arches, black-painted mirror caps, dark 18-inch wheels, and more.

European customers are being offered a range of drivetrains, including a plug-in hybrid, a hybrid, a mild hybrid, and a diesel. The hybrid versions are all powered by a 1.6-liter T-GDI engine with varying degrees of electrical assistance. The plug-in tops the range with 261 hp (265 PS/195 kW). The diesel also displaces 1.6-liters, though it comes with two power outputs of 113 hp (115 PS/84 kW) or 134 hp (136 PS/100 kW)

All will be available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission or a six-speed manual. All European models will also be available with Idle Stop-and-Go technology. This turns the engine off when the crossover is stationary and also works with Kia‘s advanced driver aids to turn the then engine off as you’re coasting to a stop. That system works in concert with the other ADAS systems to ensure that a stop is likely, though, to prevent the system from stopping and starting unnecessarily.
