Audi and Ken Block today announced a new partnership that has started with a drive in some classic cars and will move into a focus on electric vehicles.

A video announcing the partnership was published today, showing Block looking at some of the automotive brand’s most iconic models. Indeed, Audi says the American driver got some seat time in the Audi Sport quattro S1, the Audi V8 quattro from DTM, and the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo among others, footage from which we hope to see soon.

“Audi is the brand that ignited my passion for motorsport,” said Block in a statement. “I am extremely excited to start this new chapter. Together, we will develop innovative projects and push the boundaries of electric mobility.”

The rally and rallycross driver famous for bringing Gymkhana to the attention of the world also got some seat time in Audi’s electric sports car.

“The Audi RS e-tron GT really surprised me,” says Block. “The design is exquisite with great attention to detail and a perfect finish. The driving experience is amazing: the car is incredibly fast and handles very well. The center of gravity is very low so you can change direction quickly.”

Unfortunately, exactly what will come of the partnership beyond “exclusive joint projects in the field of electric mobility,” has not yet been made clear, but based on what has been revealed we would anticipate some videos of high-performance driving will come soon.

Ken Block shares our love of performance,” says Head of Audi Brand Henrik Wenders. “He has the ability to inspire people. With his progressive thinking, he will accompany us on our way into an electrifying future. Welcome to the team!”

Block formerly worked with Ford and collaborated with the brand to create high-power stunt cars for his Gymkhana videos. In January, though, he announced that his partnership with the brand would come to a halt after 11 years. Going from the Hoonicorn, which required him to wear breathing protection, to electric mobility may be a welcome change.

“I see the electric car as a leap forward for us as a society in order to create something that can not only reduce emissions and hopefully make the planet a better place,” says Block. “But not only that: it’s also about performance. I love anything that makes me go faster. Electric cars can do that.”
