Transporting an airplane cannot be an easy task and the driver of a truck recently discovered just that while moving an Airbus A320 in India.

One Mile at a Time reports that this A320 formerly owned by Air India was loaded onto a truck and driven away from Indira Gandhi international airport near the city of New Delhi. It was being driven along the Gurugram-Delhi highway when it hit the underside of a pedestrian bridge and got stuck.

We quite often see tall trucks either getting stuck or being decapitated while driving under bridges, but this is the first time we’ve seen that happening to an aircraft.

Speaking with The Times of India, a Delhi airport official confirmed that it was a scrapped plane.

“The aircraft certainly does not belong to the Delhi airport’s fleet and in the video, it is being transported without any wings. It appears to be a scrapped plane and the driver may have made a judgement of error while transporting it,” the official said.

Video captured of the scene shows highway traffic being forced to drive around the plane.

It remains unclear how long the Airbus was stuck under the bridge and how it was pulled out. Whatever happened, it seems inevitable that both the underside of the bridge and the fuselage of the plane were damaged. It’s a good thing then that the aircraft was on its way to being scrapped anyway.
