If you’ve ever desired to own a Lamborghini but couldn’t gather the cash together, then maybe you’ve considered a replica. Historically, replica vehicles have struggled to do just that – replicate the original, but this Lamborghini Diablo GT for sale is blurring the lines between what is real and what is fake.

At first glance, the vehicle appears to be a rare Diablo GT, of which there were only 80 ever built, but underneath the wild Italian body resides the chassis of an Acura NSX.

The transformation is truly incredible, and from the outside, we can hardly tell the difference between the replica and the real deal. The body appears to have the correct proportions and even features the trademark scissor doors.

The replica still features the original V6 engine from the NSX, despite the fake Lamborghini intake manifold covering it up when the engine cover is opened. You might think that this is a V12-powered replica, but pressing the accelerator doesn’t back that claim up. A real Diablo GT features a 6.0-liter V12 that produces 575 horsepower, while the 3.0-liter V6 from the NSX was only pushing out 270 horsepower.

Unfortunately, the illusion is broken once you step inside, where the original dashboard and center console clearly doesn’t match with a real Lamborghini Diablo, let alone the wild GT.

The vehicle is listed for sale on eBay with a Buy It Now price of $175,000. While that may seem like a lot of money for a replica, even original NSXs are now approaching the $200,000 mark, let alone Italian V12 supercars.

The seller touts this vehicle as an exceptional savings opportunity, considering that parts for an NSX are a lot cheaper than ones for a real Diablo.

“While other Lamborghini owners are draining their bank accounts to pay for repairs, you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank when you get your parts at a local auto parts store or online for a fraction of the price,” the seller writes.

Replica vehicles have come a long way from the early days of ugly Beetle-based kit cars; even the plague of Fiero/Ferrari replicas stuck around for a number of years before people started to realize that nobody was being fooled. However, with the aid of modern technology, we’re seeing a replica vehicle renaissance that often causes us to do a double-take.
