BMW is gearing up to unveil the special 3.0 CSL Hommage as it continues the 50th anniversary celebrations of the M division and recently, a prototype was filmed lapping the Nurburgring.
While the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage could be excused for being nothing more than a BMW M4 with a fancy name, this video, as well as recent spy images, indicate that it will undergo some quite significant modifications and take some inspiration from the 2015 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept.
The unique touches will continue at the front end where BMW has thoroughly revised the fascia with new blacked-out kidney grilles that are smaller than those of the standard M4 and much more stylish. The car also features new circular air intakes on the outer edges of the bumper and while the headlights appear identical to those of the M4, the front end does look a touch more purposeful.

Significant alterations have also been made to the rear of the sports car. These include the fitment of a roof-mounted spoiler, a fixed rear wing, a bespoke bumper, and a distinctive rear diffuser.
Powertrain details remain under wraps but all reports point towards it featuring a tuned version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder used by the standard M3 and M4 models. In this video, the familiar soundtrack of this engine is on full display. While the engine won’t be bespoke to the 3.0 CSL Hommage, it should benefit from some upgrades and is expected to produce between 560 hp and 600 hp.
BMW is obviously eager to market the car to car enthusiasts and has opted to produce it solely with a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels.
It’s not yet known how many examples are bound for the production line nor how much it will cost.
