The Dodge Charger and Challenger are going out with a literal truckload of special editions, and it appears Chrysler is also planning a special send off for the 300.

While the company is keeping details under wraps, they confirmed a “2023 model [year] special edition Chrysler 300” will be announced at a later date. There’s no word on specifics at this point, but it’s only natural to assume the model will serve as a final tribute to the once popular sedan.

Besides announcing the mysterious special edition, Chrysler introduced the 2023 300 which features a very minor update. In particular, the SafetyTec Plus Group is now available on the entry-level 300 Touring and it adds an assortment of driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automatic high-beam headlights, and full-speed forward collision warning with active braking. The package also includes rain-sensing windshield wipers, LaneSense lane departure warning with lane keep assist, and ParkSense front and rear.

As one of the few remaining vehicles in a quickly dying segment, the Chrysler 300 is notable for riding on a rear-wheel drive architecture and offering both V6 and V8 engines. The former produces up to 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 264 lb-ft (358 Nm) of torque, while the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 cranks out 363 hp (271 kW / 368 PS) and 394 lb-ft (534 Nm) of torque. The latter engine enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than six seconds.

While the 2023 model year is expected to be the last for the current Chrysler 300, officials have previously hinted at a possible electric successor.
