Seat’s SUV models have hit a significant sales milestone with confirmation that the car manufacturer has sold one million of them in the last six years.

Prior to 2016, the Seat range didn’t have a single SUV but now, the Spanish car manufacturer builds the Ateca, Arona, and Tarraco. These SUVs accounted for 49 per cent of the brand’s global sales in 2021, totaling 192,100 units.

Seat’s first SUV was the Ateca, first introduced in 2016. It has sold 435,443 units since production began and has proven to be particularly popular in Germany where some 108,000 units have been sold.

While the Ateca is the Seat SUV that has been on the market for the longest, it is not the brand’s best-selling SUV. That title belongs to the Arona, launched in 2017 and selling 481,585 units globally. Of these sales, some 98,000 units have been delivered to customers in Spain. Indeed, it was Spain’s best-selling car in 2021.

Last but not least is the Seat Tarraco. It was launched in 2018 and 88,820 units have been sold since its debut. Much like the Ateca, its biggest market is in Germany, where 29,000 units have been sold. It was voted the most popular Seat in a recent vote of 140,000 people and stands out in the company’s range thanks to its seven seats and up to 1,775 liters of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded down.

The Spanish automaker hasn’t mentioned whether it has included the Cupra Formentor and Cupra Ateca models in its sales count of SUV models.
