Toyota has announced prices for the all-new 2023 Toyota Prius, revealing the base car costs almost $3,000 more than the entry-level model in the current range.

For the outgoing 2022 model, the entry-level version was the $25,075 L Eco, but that model has been dropped from the 2023 lineup that goes on sale in January. Instead, the base model in the new ’23 Prius range is the LE, which costs $27,450, or $1,165 more than the LE it replaces. Adding all-wheel drive bumps up the price to $28,850. All of these prices are MSRP and exclude a $1,095 destination charge, by the way.

Buyers looking for a little extra luxury can select the Prius XLE ($30,895) and XLE AWD ($32,295), which also unlocks the possibility of adding a digital key for a further $275, a 12.3-in multimedia display for $735 or a panoramic glass sunroof for $1,000.

And at the fully loaded end of the scale, there’s the $34,465 Limited and $35,865 Limited AWD, though they’re technically not fully loaded unless you spend an additional $200 on a digital rearview mirror, $350 on heated rear seats, and another $1,085 on the Limited Premium Package. Only available with the Limited trim, this Premium bundle includes Advanced Park assistance and a Panoramic View Monitor. If you couldn’t slot a Mini into an aircraft hanger, this package is for you.

The 2023 Prius was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month and is the most economical, not to mention easily the best-looking, generation of Toyota’s famous hybrid yet. The revised hybrid system features a bigger 2.0-liter engine that makes up to 196 hp (199 PS), compared with 121 hp (123 PS) for the outgoing car, plus gives 57 mpg economy in its lightest front-wheel drive, LE configuration.

Prices for the Prius Prime PHEV haven’t yet been released but based on the $28,770 Toyota charges for the current entry-level Prime LE, the new one should start at around $30,000.
