Toyota has been teasing the redesigned Tacoma for what feels like an eternity, but Ford is swooping in and announcing plans to unveil the US-spec Ranger on May 10. If that wasn’t exciting enough, they’re bringing the Ranger Raptor along for the ride.

The automaker is keeping details under wraps, but the 2024 Ranger was teased during the Kentucky Derby and will go on sale late this summer. Although Ford has only revealed a few glimpses of the mid-sized truck in its official teasers, leaked photographs from Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant suggest that it will be almost identical to the model sold overseas.

There isn’t much to see in the teasers, but the truck has C-shaped headlights, vertical taillights, and a tailgate with “Ranger” lettering. The Raptor kicks things up a notch with bulging fender flares and what appears to be beadlock-style wheels.

Besides a more muscular and upscale design, we can expect a significantly improved cabin with higher quality materials and modern amenities. If the Ranger follows in the footsteps of its European counterpart, we can expect a digital instrument cluster and a 10.1- or 12-inch infotainment system. We also wouldn’t be surprised to find a wireless smartphone charger, a drive mode selector, and over-the-air updates.

We’ll have full details next week, but the Ranger Raptor is expected to mirror the Bronco Raptor and have a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 developing 418 hp (312 kW / 424 PS) and 440 lb-ft (596 Nm) of torque. The mainstream Ranger will also borrow a cue from the Bronco and should sport a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with up to 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque. The mid-size pickup may also be offered in North America with a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, which develops up to 330 hp (246 kW / 335 PS) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque.
