Tesla’s Cybertruck has to be the most hotly anticipated vehicle of 2023, and as we inch closer to its official launch this fall more details are emerging about the wildest production truck in living memory. And to that list of details we can now include exactly what the view out will be like from behind the wheel.

While the angular Cybertruck might look nothing like Tesla’s curvy cars on the outside, it’s certainly similar on the inside, judging by these images taken outside the Texas Gigafactory and posted to the Cybertruck Owners Club forum. The interior is a minimalist affair, dominated by a huge landscape-oriented touchscreen tablet that floats from a plain dashboard that seems to contain no other controls. If you drive a Model 3, you’ll probably feel at home here.

We can also see a wide rectangular storage compartment beneath the seats that we already know contains cupholders and a wireless charging pad and whose slatted, slide-away cover makes it look like the tonneau cover on a pickup bed. And the vast, laid-back windshield stretches far off into the distance where the A-pillars finally meet the hood. That is going to make visibility awkward and cleaning the inside of the glass a tricky affair on those Sunday morning detailing sessions.

In fact, the angle of the screen and A-pillars means the view out is very similar to the one you get in a Lamborghini Huracan, so maybe it’s fitting that the Cybertruck has a supercar-like rectangular steering wheel. Current Teslas come with either a yoke or an old-fashioned (and all the better for it) fully circular wheel, so the Cybertruck’s squashed two-spoke job is a very different design. But anyone who’s driven a Tesla before will recognize the twin rotary scroll wheels built into the spokes.

A couple of things drivers of regular, sane pickup trucks might expect to see in these pictures but don’t, include any kind of gauge cluster or physical gear selector (presumably because you shift gears using a slider on the touchscreen), and a third seat between the driver and passenger chairs – Tesla has already confirmed that the idea of a third front seat was dropped a while back. There’s no turn signal stalk either, as the steering wheel features a button on the left-hand spoke to indicate a change of direction.
