Porsche plans to allow Apple to take over its entire infotainment system in the near future, and this collaboration is already enhancing functionality for iPhone users. On Monday, the automaker announced that the My Porsche App has undergone significant updates “with the goal of optimizing its operation and achieving deeper integration within the customer’s digital ecosystem.”

New functions will be integrated into Apple CarPlay, enabling users to perform actions such as changing the radio station, adjusting the vehicle’s temperature, and controlling ambient lighting directly from their phone screen.

And it won’t just be their phone that Porsche owners can use to check their vehicle. The My Porsche App for Apple Watch will allow owners to pull up information about their vehicle, such as the cabin temperature, whether the doors are locked, and more directly from their wrist.

My Porsche App users will also be able to access their Performance Dashboard from CarPlay, which shows performance data in real time. That includes a driver’s top speed, the G forces they have achieved, their driving efficiency, average speed, distance, and more.

In addition, Porsche is adding Siri to 400,000 vehicles that are already on the road. Drivers will be able to control more functions using Apple’s voice assistance, and will be able to launch the function from a button on their steering wheel with this update (as long as they have PCM 6.0 or later).

The updates to the My Porsche App also bring a cleaner and more user-friendly interface. With additional quick functions, owners can perform their favorite tasks with greater ease.

What’s particularly noteworthy is the integration with Apple CarPlay, which allows electric vehicle drivers to plan their route and charging stops from their phone before starting their journey. This deeper integration ensures that the app takes into account the vehicle’s state of charge, allowing it to plan charging stops ahead of time.
