• Toyota Thailand previews new Land Cruiser FJ with four concepts.
  • Each build shows modular design using official and aftermarket parts.
  • Prices start at 1,269,000 Baht, about $38,750, near a high-spec Hilux.

Five months after its global reveal, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has officially arrived in Thailand, the very place it is built. The launch also serves as a showcase moment, with Toyota using the occasion to show how central this compact off-roader is to the broader Land Cruiser lineup, supported by four concepts and a wide range of accessories that set the tone.

Those concepts go by the names Meridian, Nature Explorer, Legendary, and Street Cruiser. Each one is designed to showcase the customization potential of the new ladder-frame SUV, focused on off-road versatility, overlanding, vintage looks, and sportiness.

All four models feature a mix of Toyota accessories and aftermarket components from the likes of ARB, Old Man Emu, Lenso, Brembo, and Yokohama.

The Meridian

Standing out with its Cement Gray paint and black topographical accents, The Meridian is the most trail-focused build of the group. It comes heavily equipped with ARB hardware, including underbody protection, a snorkel, side steps that double as rock sliders, a roof rack, and an LED light bar.

The concept ides on 17-inch Lenso MX Dinero alloy wheels wrapped in rough-terrain tires. Its stance is further enhanced by a 20 mm lift kit featuring Old Man Emu springs and Nitrocharger Plus shocks, giving it added capability off the beaten path.

The Nature Explorer

This version is designed as a mobile basecamp for outdoor enthusiasts, finished in a Smokey Blue shade with a white roof. It is equipped with a full-size ARB roof rack, a rooftop tent, and a side awning for extended trips.

To improve visibility during late-night setups, the SUV features ARB spotlights on the grille and Nacho LEDs mounted at the base of the windscreen. It rides on black Lenso MX Marvel alloy wheels with all-terrain tires and includes a set of mud flaps.

The Legendary

The Legendary concept serves as a tribute to the Land Cruiser’s heritage, drawing clear inspiration from the classic FJ40. The exterior stands out in Sandstone Yellow, with body-colored cladding, subtle chrome inserts along the profile, and black accents on the skid plates, side steps, and lighting housings. It is also the only concept featuring circular LED graphics, reinforcing its retro character.

Other highlights include the 17-inch Lenso MX Duty alloy wheels that resemble chrome-finished steelies, all-terrain tires, mud flaps, classic Land Cruiser emblems on the fenders, and larger side mirrors.

The Street Cruiser

In sharp contrast to the other off-road builds, the Street Cruiser adopts a sportier stance aimed at urban drivers and content creators.

It rides on 20-inch Lenso Jager Astra alloy wheels with road-focused tires, paired with a lowered suspension and an upgraded braking system featuring ventilated discs and red Brembo calipers. There are no reported powertrain upgrades.

A matte wrap with racing graphics is paired with a gloss black roof and a prominent rear spoiler. Around the back, the spare wheel is replaced by a sleek case, freeing up space for a motorcycle or bicycle carrier.

Official Accessory Packages

Beyond the showcars, Toyota has introduced a range of optional accessories already available to buyers of the Land Cruiser FJ in Thailand. Each item can be purchased individually, though the company also offers three bundled packages to simplify the process.

Technical Specifications

The Thai-spec Land Cruiser FJ is based on the IMV ladder-frame architecture and is powered exclusively by a non-electrified 2.7-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 164 hp (122 kW / 166 PS) and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system with a rear differential lock.

The compact Land Cruiser measures 4,610 mm (181.5 in) in length and rides on a 2,580 mm (101.6 in) wheelbase. It offers 245 mm (9.6 in) of ground clearance and a water-wading depth of 700 mm (27.5 in).

How Much Does It Cost?

Toyota has launched the Land Cruiser FJ in Thailand in a single high-spec trim. Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather upholstery, seven airbags, and an ADAS suite.

The introductory price is 1,269,000 Baht ($38,100). This positions the FJ slightly above the range-topping Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport (1,254,000 baht or $38,750) and the base-spec Fortuner in the same market, while remaining more affordable than higher-spec versions of the new Hilux Travo.

Toyota does not currently offer other Land Cruiser models in Thailand, so its positioning relative to the larger 250 Series and 300 Series will become clearer once it launches in Japan.
