• The Everest Wildtrak returns to Australia for a limited run of 1,000 units.
  • The Ranger-based SUV gains Matrix LED headlights and a sunroof.
  • It is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel and its price matches the Tremor.

For American enthusiasts, the Ford Ranger pickup and the Bronco off-roader represent two sides of the same coin. However, other parts of the world get the Everest – a three-row SUV version of the Ranger which just received a new Wildtrak special edition in Australia.

The Wildtrak trim is a permanent member of the Everest lineup in New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines, and South Africa, but Australian buyers only had access to limited batches in 2023 and 2025. This year, Ford will sell 1,000 units of the Everest Wildtrak Down Under, with small updates compared to previous iterations.

Among the highlights is the Ignite Orange shade, replacing the old Luxe Yellow livery following the example of the recently updated Ranger Wildtrak. This is combined with gloss black accents, and 20-inch alloy wheels with orange inserts. Those who plan on taking the SUV off the beaten track can get a smaller set of 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires as a no-cost option.

Inside, Ford added orange stitching and Wildtrak embroidery on the leather seats. Furthermore, standard equipment gains premium features from the flagship Platinum trim, including Matrix LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and power-folding third-row seats.

Under the hood lies a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, delivering 247 hp (184 kW / 250 PS) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque through a 10-speed automatic and a full-time 4WD system. The smaller 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel has been dropped from the Australian lineup, meaning that the V6 is the only option for the entire Everest lineup.

The 1,000 units of the 2026.5 Ford Everest Wildtrak will reach Australian showrooms in Q3 2026, priced from AU$ 79,990 (US$ 57,300). This is identical to the Everest Tremor that comes with a beefed-up suspension setup but doesn’t have some of the premium features found in the Wildtrak.

Since the Everest doesn’t get a Raptor trim, the most expensive member of the Australian lineup is the Platinum, which starts at AU$ 83,490 (US$ 59,800).

For those in North America wondering why this isn’t in local showrooms, the answer usually boils down to market positioning, tariffs, and emission regulations. With the more premium Explorer handling three-row family duties and the Bronco covering the off-road lifestyle segment, Ford might feel it doesn’t need to invest in a Toyota 4Runner rival.
