- Genesis has introduced a refined version of the Magma GT concept.
- The mid-engined supercar is joined by a track-ready GT3 concept.
- They hint at closer ties between production and motorsports.
The Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar lines up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, but the racing program isn’t the only thing the Korean brand brought to France. Genesis pulled the covers off a refined Magma GT concept with a finished interior and a track-ready GT3 derivative at the Circuit de la Sarthe. Both signal that the mid-engined sports car is closing in on production.
The Magma GT Concept first appeared in November 2025 as a preview of what Genesis calls its first pure sports car. This is the reintroduction, and the changes are small but telling. The bodywork trades the loud Magma Orange for a metallic green paired with copper alloy wheels, a combination that flatters the car’s curves far better than the launch color did. Parked next to an Aston Martin, it wouldn’t look out of place.

The rest of the updates are detail work and include revised side windows, mild reshaping of the mirrors and door handles, redesigned side fins, and reworked LED taillights with flatter graphics.
More importantly, Genesis gave us our first look inside the two-seater cabin. The highlight is an analog instrument cluster inspired by “motor racing timekeeping instruments,” joined by three round dials on the center console. A small screen integrates physical climate controls, with a few switches sitting ahead of the aluminum gear knob for the automatic transmission.

We can also see circular controls and large paddle shifters on the steering wheel, plus orange ambient lighting and generous use of quilted leather and Alcantara upholstery.
The Racing Version
Alongside the refined road car, Genesis has unveiled the Magma GT3 Concept. The track-ready machine points to a future racecar beyond the current FIA WEC Hypercar program. Built to GT3 regulations, it shows the potential to “strengthen the connection between Genesis’ road cars and racing activities.”

The track-focused model gets a redesigned bodykit with a more pronounced splitter, canards, vented fenders, a much larger diffuser, and a massive rear wing. Add racing mirrors, Lexan windows, and different alloy wheels wrapped in slick tires. The chassis has been tuned for the track too, with lowered suspension and wider tracks.

Genesis stayed quiet on what powers the Magma GT concepts, but the likeliest answer is a new version of the 3.2-liter V8 from the hybrid GMR-001 Hypercar. The GT3 racer is further off, with Genesis calling it a project still under exploration and Hyundai Motorsport handling the development work.
Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, said: “The Magma GT Concept embodies our vision of luxury and athleticism on the road, while the Magma GT3 Concept translates that philosophy into the race environment, where every element is driven by performance, efficiency, and purpose. Together, they demonstrate how Genesis is exploring the full spectrum of high performance – from refined grand touring to uncompromising motorsport.”
