- Every inch of the G’s bodywork is bathed in matte gold paint.
- Mansory has also equipped the 720 hp SUV with matte gold wheels.
- Found through the cabin is plush new leather and LED lighting.
Gold is meant to read as prestige, prosperity, and power. Stare at this overhauled Mercedes-AMG G 63 from Mansory for long enough, though, and a different set of words comes to mind. Overkill. Cheap. Tacky. Your call.
To be fair, none of it is actual gold. What covers the tuner’s latest G-Wagen is a matte gold paint finish, applied to every panel the tuner could reach. That means the reworked front grille, the new air intakes, the chin spoiler, and a fittingly aggressive hood.

It’s much the same story along the sides of the Mercedes. The dramatic body kit adds flared wheel arches at both the front and rear, new side steps, unique tailpipes, and a set of aftermarket wheels, also finished in matte gold, just like the bodywork. The rear-end is equally as gaudy, or stylish depending on your tastes, sporting a roof-mounted spoiler, a new spare wheel cover, and a distinctive bumper, complete with two extra LED taillights.
A Tasteful Cabin
While the SUV’s gold exterior finish is bound to split opinions, the interior is actually more restrained than some other recent Mansory projects we’ve seen. Rather than every interior surface being clad in brightly colored leather, the cabin has been retrimmed in a subtle shade of beige, which actually looks quite classy.
With this being said, you can, of course, trust Mansory to add some elements that cheapen it. For example, there’s a starlight headliner that looks like it was designed by an infant, plus illuminated and stitched areas on the door panels, also with LED backlighting. For some strange reason, the engine Start/Stop button has also been repositioned to the headliner.
The Mercedes-AMG G 63 was never a vehicle crying out for more power, but Mansory has added some regardless. The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 now serves up 720 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, which explains the P720 badge. With the extra muscle on tap, the owner can accelerate clean out of sight before bystanders get the chance to fully register how distasteful the thing is.
