The Lamborghini Lanzador Concept unveiled by the Italian marque last month isn’t just important because it previews its first high-riding two-door crossover coupe but also because it will spawn Lamborghini’s first EV. Most people seem to think that the concept had a bold exterior design fitting of the Lamborghini badge but does Frank Stephenson agree?
In analyzing the design of the Lanzador, Stephenson says it reminds him of the Italdesign Parcour of a decade ago, not necessarily because it looks similar but because it has a similar body style. The world-famous designer adds that it is immediately identifiable as a Lamborghini when viewed from the front end and while he questions the necessity for the abundance of grilles and intakes on the fascia, they do give it a familiar Lamborghini family face.

The side profile of the Lanzador is also intriguing. It makes the SUV stand out from the crowd and has “origami-style” sharp lines and creases across the bodywork that work together as one cohesive design language. Angular wheel arches are also a key highlight as are the geometric silver and black wheels of the concept.
The rear of the Lanzador is also clearly identifiable as a Lamborghini and much like the Revuelto, gives you an unimpeded view of the rear wheels and tires. Like the rest of the bodywork, the rear is also very angular and Stephenson is similarly complimentary of the interior.
While the Lanzador’s production variant will lack a combustion engine like all other Lamborghinis before it, that doesn’t mean it will be some pedestrian SUV. In fact, the carmaker says it will have a megawatt (1,341 hp) of power, meaning it actually has the potential to be the quickest-accelerating Lamborghini ever. The production model could also debut a torque vectoring system that can be adjusted on the fly by the driver.
