• Stellantis says the recent infotainment ad issue is now fixed.
  • Pop-up messages only appear at startup, then disappear quickly.
  • Drivers may still see recall, service, or radio-related alerts.

Stellantis customers keep running into something that most drivers don’t usually expect when they fire up their cars. Specifically, pop-up ads that appear on the infotainment screen. In the past, the automaker has said these incidents were the result of software glitches rather than a deliberate attempt to push advertising.

Now, after another recent episode, Stellantis tells Carscoops that the issue has been fixed, and it also offered fresh insight into how it believes infotainment notifications should work going forward.

Reports of ads appearing inside Stellantis vehicles have surfaced repeatedly over the past year, often shared by frustrated owners on social media and automotive forums.

In previous cases, Stellantis maintained that the pop-ups were not intentional advertising campaigns, but rather unintended messages caused by backend errors or misconfigured notifications. That explanation hasn’t stopped skepticism, especially as new examples continue to pop up.

Recently, a Reddit post exposed another such instance where a Ram truck owner received a Mopar parts ad. As we’ve seen in the past, there was no way to opt out quickly, so we reached out to Stellantis. The automaker provided the following statement.

Here’s What the Company Says

“Stellantis is committed to delivering a seamless, informed, and personalized vehicle experience for our owners. The In-Vehicle Message (IVM) feature within the Uconnect system plays a key role in keeping customers connected to essential information throughout their ownership journey. This technology enables us to share timely alerts, such as recall notifications, pertinent vehicle health updates, and Sirius XM subscription information.

To ensure a safe experience, all in-vehicle messages are thoughtfully designed with minimal interruption in mind:

1.  Messages to appear at vehicle startup and while the vehicle is stationary

2.  Messages automatically clear when the vehicle begins moving, when the driver taps the “X,” “No”, or after 15 seconds

3.  A message will reappear at the next key-on cycle only if the driver selects “Remind Me Later” or does not dismiss it

We recognize that preferences vary, and not all owners wish to receive marketing content. Customers may permanently opt out of in-vehicle marketing messages at any time using one of the following methods:

1.  Contact Customer Care at 1-800-777-3600 and request “I want to opt out of in-vehicle messaging” to speak with a representative for support.

2.  Customers also can go to their brand website (e.g., Connect.ramtrucks.com, connect.chrysler.com or Connect.jeep.com for example) and follow steps to opt out (Click Profile — Message Settings — In Vehicle — Toggle off and save).

Stellantis continuously reviews customer feedback to refine our communication tools and deliver the best possible in-vehicle experience. Our goal is to ensure every interaction—on the road or through our technology—adds value, safety, and convenience for our owners.”

So, put another way, there’s no way to opt out in the screen itself. Sources indicate that the type of ads that we saw in the Reddit post are no longer getting pushed to Stellantis vehicles, but we wouldn’t be totally shocked to see them pop up again in the future. For now, we’ll have to wait and see how customers react.
