• A Florida waitress is allegedly involved in a credit bust-out scheme.

  • To secure the loans, the woman claimed a monthly income of $180k.

A Miami Lakes woman is facing serious charges after what investigators describe as a rapid-fire vehicle buying spree that reads more like a dealership inventory list than a personal garage.

A 38-year-old suspect, identified as Dunia Sierra, was arrested by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office on April 9 following an investigation into what authorities call an elaborate credit bust-out scheme. According to officials, she allegedly acquired a fleet of cars, SUVs, and motorcycles across multiple transactions between October 4 and October 12, 2023.

During that eight-day window, investigators say Sierra managed to stay ahead of credit reporting systems, completing each purchase before the accumulating debt could register on her credit profile.

To secure the financing, the woman allegedly claimed a title that did not exist. While authorities say she was working as a waitress and cashier at a Miami Lakes restaurant, her loan applications listed her as the General Manager of the same premises. The claimed salary did the heavy lifting, $180,000 per month, or $2.16 million per year.

As reported by 7 News Miami, Sierra’s shopping list reads like a dealership wish list, spanning sports cars, family SUVs, and even motorcycles. According to the report, she is said to have purchased the following vehicles:

  • 2019 BMW i8
  • 2023 Toyota Highlander XLE
  • 2022 Mazda CX-9
  • 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy
  • 2024 Kia Telluride
  • 2018 Mercedes S560
  • 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
  • Three 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycles

The Miami-Dade Organized Crimes Bureau believes this was no solo act. Sierra is suspected of operating as a “straw buyer” within a broader network that includes auto brokers and dealership finance managers.

These insiders are alleged to have pushed deals through by sidestepping standard lending checks, padding applications, and loading up high-margin options to maximize their cut before lenders caught on to the fabricated income figures.

Sierra now faces multiple felony charges, including organized fraud, grand theft, and vehicle-related fraud. While she is currently being held on a $26,000 bond, the investigation remains active as authorities look to dismantle the rest of the fraudulent network.
