• Mazda has unveiled the 2027 CX-30 in Europe.
  • It gains better safety gear and matrix LED headlights.
  • New Homura Plus and Makoto trims join the lineup.

The Mazda CX-30 has been around since 2019 and still hasn’t seen a proper facelift. That hasn’t stopped Mazda from keeping the compact crossover fresh in Europe, where it’s rolling out a series of 2027 model year tweaks centered on new trims and added safety equipment.

The styling changes are subtle, and even that’s generous. The EU-spec 2027 CX-30 picks up the same stealthy cues Mazda introduced on the US-market 2026 model, meaning high-spec versions get a gloss black grille, a blacked-out Mazda emblem, and matching badging out back.

The palette expands to nine colors with the arrival of Aero Grey and the Zinc Green recently added to the MX-5. Inside, Mazda promises “improved materials, new surfaces, and optimized usability, complemented by additional lighting and comfort features”.

On the safety front, Mazda has improved the CX-30’s i-Activsense suite. Adaptive cruise control now talks to the traffic sign recognition system, so the driver can adopt a detected speed limit with a button on the steering wheel. The automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring have been recalibrated to pick up motorcycles, and the car adds a turn-assist function for intersections, secondary collision avoidance, and a driver attention warning.

For 2027, the European range gains a new Homura Plus flagship trim and the Makoto special edition. The Homura Plus comes standard with premium features like a 12-speaker Bose sound system, black leather upholstery, and a 360-degree camera. The highlight, though, is the Matrix LED headlights. They outclass the old adaptive setup, adding pedestrian marker lights and the ability to dim automatically around traffic signs.

2027 Mazda CX-30 Makoto

The Makoto effectively mirrors the US-spec Aire Edition, sharing the same black exterior accents and 18-inch alloy wheels, but it pairs them with fancier Matrix LED headlights. Inside, we find light grey leatherette seats, matching suede trim on the dashboard, a brushed silver key cover, and branded floor mats with contrast stitching.

Mazda has also rolled out smaller tweaks across the rest of the range. The entry-level Prime-Line gains a matte black center console, black side window trim, and new LED DRLs. The Centre-Line features additional center console lighting, while the Exclusive-Line gains silver roof rails and the 360-degree camera.

The optional design package brings a glossy black center console and gunmetal cabin accents, the same touches found on the new Homura Plus, though here they come with chrome window surrounds. Topping the lineup, the Takumi trim gets black decorative elements and ventilated seats.

While the US-spec CX-30 can be had with a turbo engine and standard AWD, the European model goes a different route, sticking with mild-hybrid naturally aspirated mills. The 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv G is good for 138 hp (103 kW / 140 PS), while the flagship 2.0-liter e-Skyactiv X produces 183 hp (137 kW / 186 PS).

Most variants stick with a FWD layout, but the more potent engine can also be paired with the i-Activ AWD system. Another notable difference from its US-spec twin is that the European CX-30 can be had with a six-speed manual as an alternative to the six-speed torque-converter automatic.

On pricing, European buyers face a significantly higher barrier to entry than their American counterparts. In Germany, the base 2027 CX-30 Prime-Line starts at €29,990 ($34,700), the Makoto costs €34,440 ($39,806), and the flagship Takumi climbs to €38,190 ($44,100). By comparison, the 2026 CX-30 in the US starts at $26,375 and tops out at $37,900.
