The vast majority of Porsche Carrera GT models left the factory wearing silver, though the company did offer a handful of other shades, including black, yellow, red, and grey, none of which looked as striking as the color on this particular car. That is because this Carrera GT no longer wears anything Porsche ever sold it with.
You see, this isn’t a completely original model. At some point it was repainted in Rosso Fuoco, a Ferrari color and, to our eyes, one of the finest the Italian brand has ever mixed. It looks superb on something like an F12 Berlinetta, and it turns out to suit the lines of the Carrera GT just as well, which is not something you can say about every red draped over a car that was engineered in Stuttgart.

Mecum Auctions
The German supercar is being auctioned off by Mecum during next month’s Monterey Car Week and has been owned by Milton Verret. He is a noted Ferrari collector, hence why it is now painted in such a glamorous color. Apparently it took 3 months to repaint the car, so intensive was the transformation.
Verret’s Carrera GT also hasn’t been driven much, as the odometer currently sits at just 3,471 miles (5,586 km). While no pre-auction estimate has been released, Carrera GT prices have surged over the past couple of years, so much so that a rare, Paint to Sample Blue model sold for $6.7 million earlier this year. Other low-mileage models are generally trading hands for between $2 million and $3.5 million.
Mecum Auctions
Total production of the Carrera GT was capped at just 1,270 units, and this one is number 728 and one of 644 originally sold in the US. With the exception of the paint, it remains completely original, still rocking the iconic 5.7-liter naturally-aspirated V10 with 603 hp and 435 lb-ft (590 Nm) of torque.
Not only does the car’s exterior look superb, but the interior does too. It includes a carbon fiber shift knob and black leather across the seats, which show few signs of wear, other than some lines and creases. Like the 918 Spyder, which ultimately replaced it, the Carrera GT also has a removable roof panel, so the V10 can be enjoyed to the fullest.
Cross-badging paint jobs usually ends in tears, but this one ends in a car that looks like it was always meant to wear Ferrari red. Check the Mecum listing over here and decide for yourself.
