The Honda Civic Type R is one of the coolest hot hatches on sale, but not every fan is old enough to drive one. Achilles, a footwear manufacturer, has done something about that. It teamed up with Honda on a kids’ sneaker based on the Japanese performance model, for those wanting a piece of Type R magic years before they can experience the real thing.

The shoe starts as the Ultima Cheetah, an existing model from the hugely popular Syunsoku line. The Type R emblem sits on the toes, a red Honda badge lands on each heel, and the red stitching running through the upper is lifted straight from the cabin of the hot hatch itself.
Achilles
Achilles offers three color options borrowed from the Type R, including Championship White, Frame Red, and Racing Blue Pearl. All of them are combined with black and white graphics and red stitching. The upper portion is made of polyester and synthetic leather, while the soles are made of EVA plastic and rubber.

While the full-scale Civic Type R makes 325 hp (243 kW / 330 PS) from a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the junior version relies strictly on foot power. Achilles still claims a few tricks went into making them quicker, among them an asymmetrical outsole pattern for cornering grip, a lightweight build, and something called an Inner Flex System.
Achilles
The special edition shoes come in a custom black box featuring the actual Honda Civic Type R, alongside faux red stitching and licensed product lettering. They range from 16 cm to 23 cm (6.3 to 9.1 inches) long, which equals US sizes from 9 to 5Y (EU sizes 25 to 36) for elementary school children.
Achilles
Pre-orders are open through the Achilles e-shop in Japan until September 27, 2026, and first deliveries are expected in early October. The asking price is ¥6,490, or roughly $41 at current exchange rates. Honda is marking the occasion by sending a Civic Type R wrapped in matching Syunsoku livery to promotional events in Fukuoka and Miyagi.
