- This BMW XM rocks Larte Design’s 17-piece carbon fiber body kit.
- Matching the Lunar Lilac paint are several purple carbon fiber parts.
- The XM rocks a set of massive 23-inch forged wheels, also with a purple finish.
As the first model developed exclusively by the BMW M division since the iconic M1, the dramatic XM was always going to be talked about, both positively and negatively. The SUV’s wild design has sparked a lot of debate, as has the fact that BMW killed off a planned successor to the M1 in order to build the XM. How can you make a vehicle like this even more controversial? Hand it over to Larte Design, of course.
This wild XM, which currently exists only in the virtual realm, has been imagined by the tuner with its 17-piece carbon fiber body kit and a paint scheme that not even BMW itself would be brave enough to apply to an XM. If this thing actually gets built, it’ll make some of Mansory’s projects seem a little restrained.

Larte says it was inspired to dream up this model after sharing images of a special Lamborghini Urus SE painted in Lunar Lilac, a slight shade of lavender with blue undertones. It says several XM owners reached out asking to see the Bimmer with the same paint finish, and that’s exactly what we have here.
Purple Is The New Black
It’d obviously take a very brave XM owner to have their SUV painted like this, though we’re sure there are plenty out there who’d happily drive around in a lilac BMW. Perhaps more outlandish than the paint itself is the fact that all of the new carbon fiber pieces have been tinted in a matching shade.
The kit starts at the front end with a purple carbon splitter, grille surround, and a vented carbon fiber hood. Purple carbon parts continue with the flared front wheel arches and the wing mirror caps, before extending along the sides with new skirts and rear arches.
The XM’s rear end has also been transformed. The central piece is a purple carbon diffuser with four vertical brake lights and is paired with quad tailpipes, which also include purple carbon trimmings. The tuner has also installed a large wing stretching off the roof and a subtle lip spoiler on the tailgate.
As if these changes weren’t enough, these images also showcase the XM with a matching set of purple 23-inch forged wheels.
It remains to be seen if Larte Design is actively working on building an XM that looks just like this, but it says the kit works with the base XM, XM Label, and XM 50e models.
